Dinner & Dance
and Presentation of the Nurses Merit Awards – 26 Jul 03
The Nurses Day celebrations began with
a Dinner and Dance and Presentation of the Nurses Merit Awards
on 26 July at the Marriott Hotel. Mr Moses Lee, Permanent Secretary
(Health) presented the awards to 58 nurses and midwives from the
public and private hospitals/institutions and nursing homes for
their consistent outstanding performance and commitment to the
profession.
The theme for the D&D was “Polynesian
Night”. Many ladies were dressed in sarongs with garlands
and flowers in their hair. The gentlemen, not willing to be left
out, were also spotted in their Hawaiian shirts and garlands.
Some sporting ladies delighted the audience with a Hawaiian hula
when called upon by the MC. A few brave gentlemen also managed
to perform an energetic Maori Haka. Walter Lee was clearly the
favourite with his fierce facial expressions and forceful arm
and leg movements.
